John Meister serves as the Director of the Accessibility Resource Center. He joined the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in fall 2019. He earned his Master of Science from the University of North Texas in 2006 with a specialization in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling, and his Bachelor of Science from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 1991.
Prior to his work with UW Milwaukee, he was the Director of Disability Services at the University of Colorado Boulder from 2014-2019 and held several roles during his tenure starting in 2009. Prior to his work at CU Boulder, he was the Disability Resource Coordinator at Colorado State University – Pueblo and a Graduate Assistant at Texas Woman’s University. Additionally, he has served as a consultant to several post-secondary institutions in matters related to students, disability and equitable access.
John is the past Chair (2012-2013) of the Colorado Wyoming Association for Higher Education and Disability (COWY AHEAD) and has served in various leadership roles since 2007. He is also a member of the Association of Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) national organization.
In his time outside of the office, John enjoys hiking, biking, camping and exploring all the many wonders of the outdoors.
